The heavy, old Dutch doors of the Dirck Gulick House will be opening wide on Sunday, Dec. 7 to welcome visitors to a festive holiday gathering around the wassail bowl.
Everyone is welcome to stop in between 2 – 4 pm when the Van Harlingen Historical Society will be decorating its old fashioned Christmas tree, a cedar cut from a nearby field, with traditional strings of popcorn and cranberries. There will be greenie, goodies and good cheer. Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Student Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert Thursday, December 11, at 8 p.m., in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s North Branch Campus.
The group is directed by John Loehrke of New York City.

On December 14 at 2:00 p.m. the Waldorf School of Princeton will host the Folk Tale Puppets, a marionette troupe, when they perform "Jonathan's Journey – a Holiday Tale". This story recounts the adventures of a young boy who is led away on Christmas Eve to magical lands by a mysterious gnome. Jonathan arrives in the snow-clad forest where he encounters woodland animals and Father Christmas. This original and delightful tale is by artist Elizabeth Lombardi and is appropriate for ages three and up.

Session 2 – Contemporary Judaism – Are We All Jews by Choice? – March 1, 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Congregation Kehilat Shalom . As Judaism has moved through the millennia from its roots as a people of ancient Israel, through the Diaspora and into a post-modern secular world, how have we all, in a sense, become Jews by choice? What implications does that have for Jewish practice and the incorporation of “non-Jews” into it, especially in the most liberal branches of Judaism? Led by Rabbi Susan Falk.

Classroom Close-up, NJ, a seven-time Emmy winning show produced by the New Jersey Education Association and NJN Public Television, will be visiting Village Elementary School on October 22 to tape a story about their live morning news program-VES News .
The show will air Monday at 7 pm and Saturday at 9 am on (NJN), February 9, February 14, March 16 and March 21.
